Illegal Parking is Rampant Back in Jatinegara

Although the raid against illegal parking already held intensively in Jatinegara area, East Jakarta, yet there are still people who like to park their vehicles haphazardly, either cars or motorcycles. As a result, traffic congestion happened.

But whatever the reason, we will keep doing our duty

As quoted by beritajakarta.com, dozens of vehicles are seen parking in forbidden areas, such as Jalan Raya Bekasi Timur, Jalan Jatinegara Barat, Jalan Jatinegara Timur and Jalan Matraman Raya. Those are commonly parked on the roadside and sidewalk.

Seeing this, 40 joint personnel of East Jakarta Transportation Sub-Department assisted by army and police decided to hold another raid in such areas. They managed to secure 39 vehicles, by removing 24 tire valves of motorcycles as well as ticketing 4 other cars, 10 public transports and 1 pick-up car.

East Jakarta to Control Illegal Parking Attendants

Head of East Jakarta Transportation Sub-Department, Benhard Hutajulu disclosed that almost all of the netted vehicles are new riders and do not know the raid on Monday (9/8) yesterday.

"Most offenders are new riders, thus they don't know the raid for sure. But whatever the reason, we will keep doing our duty," he stressed, Tuesday (9/9).

Hutajulu stated the personnel were equipped with two towing trucks in the field. "We net and tow a pick-up car B 9068 UCL to be brought to the Goods Pulogebang Terminal," he expressed.

On the other hand, he was disappointed because of there are still many taxis and motorcycle-taxis pick up and drop off passengers in front of the Jatinegara Train Station. It is very disturbing traffic flow.

That is why he urges PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) to re-arrange the parking lot for taxi and motorcycle-taxi. If not, the place would be chaotic.
